After the founder’s death in 1989, the club was taken over by his wife, Lorraine Gordon, who carefully preserved its format and atmosphere. Village Vanguard has been operating continuously for nearly a century, staying true to the tradition of live jazz. To this day, it hosts performances by top musicians and continues to record live sessions.
